So far of the three I am very much leaning towards going with ABF Relocubes. I felt she was very trusting and not rushed or a "pressure seller" at all. For our 1200 mile move it was $1457 for one or $1961 for 2. Their cubes are smaller, (6'x7'x8') and they will bring two of them, and only charge us for one if we only use one. Relocubes, (ABF) was the least expensive. Well, I just contacted ABF Relocubes, Pods, and Ratpack. We loved ABF and would definitely use them again (if needed)! We did not have to drive the truck with our belongings, so no headaches due to wrestling a big truck on the highway with other traffic, potential breakdowns, etc. Granted we sold/gave away quite a bit of furniture, but still.ĥ. Both times we moved, we had a 3 BR house to pack up. You see these trailers on the highway and realize just how tall they really are. size of ABF trailer - this is not anywhere near the same as a U-Haul truck/trailer. ABF provides an estimate based on a number of questions you answer and then they give you a dollar amount per foot that will either be credited (if you use less than the estimated amount) or charged (if you need more than the estimated amount).Ĥ. due to #2, we were able to control how many cubic feet we used. We received a "tracking number" so we could keep track of our trailer of goods.ģ. We don't see it again until it is delivered to the new address. We loved having the trailer dropped off at our home for however many days we needed to pack it up, give ABF a call and it gets picked up. we wanted the control of packing the truck with our belongings, making sure everything made it on the truck and was tied down securely. The estimate was a total cost - trailer space rental, gas, tolls, etc. cost - we were limited by the amount my husband's new employer would reimburse. We did not have the pod option (from any company) in our first move as they were not available (can't remember if it was due to where we were moving from or where we were moving to).ġ. I have to say, I have never heard ABF and the term "pod" used in the same sentence as I read another post. We have made 2 long-distance moves (NY-MN & then MN-CA) and used ABF both times. Give us a call and we can help you through the entire process.I am with Tambre. Here is a some eco friendly moving tips as well. Once again we can provide the labor and any special supplies to load or unload and tips on hiring help at the final destination. And use experienced experts for unique assistance as needed. Like almost anything it can pay to shop and ask for prices ahead of time. They have tie down slats from the floor to ceiling and from front to back of the container. These trucks are more designed for household moving. Another economical choice is to rent a Uhaul, Budget, or Penske truck. But this can change depending upon your location and the season. Most of our customers who shop PackRat, Upack and PODS for prices report that Upack is less expensive. (And your back muscles and neighbors will appreciate it.) Our company can also give you some great tips on hiring a reputable mover at the other end for the needed assistance loading or unloading. Because you can use our help for just some of your difficult to move items you will save money and help assure that everything will be in the best possible condition. Your Personal Mover can supply the man power and knowledge to load or unload the containers in the Denver metro area. Many customers will still need help loading and unloading the POD or ABF trailer. And you can still save a lot of money compared to conventional movers. With Your Personal Mover we load and unload both PODS, Upack and other alternatives quickly and within the best of our capabilities. But that can be worked around with some experience, thought and care. The main down-side to all PODS, PackRat and ABF/Upack are the lack of tie down points inside the container and how best to load/unload big heavy items. If a customer is willing to put the foot work into the scheduling and much of the packing and unpacking this can be a great money savings option. PODS, PackRat and ABF-Upack are services that can drastically reduce your moving costs. One of the major changes has been the entry of services like Upack, PODS and PackRat. From my 20 years in the household moving business I have seen a lot of changes in the industry.
